"The Rams Head Live! is three venues in one: a concert hall, an Inner Harbor restaurant and a neighborhood brewpub. The main attraction is the concert hall, which has played host to national acts like Hootie and the Blowfish, Cypress Hill and Chris Isaak. Three viewing levels overlook the stage and 26,000-square-feet of arena space, which holds up to 1,800 people. The concert area houses more than 40 video monitors, a backdrop screen, five bars and three food kiosks.
The Tavern, which opened in the winter of 2004, has quickly become a harbor destination. It offers a wide selection of soups, starters and sandwiches. The entrées are reasonably priced, so live a little and try the Boss Steak & Shrimp, Cajun Seafood Alfredo or Rehoboth Cioppino. Eat outside and you get to watch decked out passers-by on their way to the clubs in the Power Plant Live!
The brewpub is a change of pace to most of the Power Plant Live! because it's the only regular bar there. No bands, no DJs -- just good people, good food and cold beer. The bar has a small cast of regulars, but most head here to start their night before heading out to the clubs. A great draw is the happy hour. Monday-Friday from 4-7 p.m. enjoy complimentary food ranging from tacos on Mondays to bratwurst on Thursdays, along with $1.95 drafts and other drink discounts..."

"...One of Baltimore's best rock venues, Fletcher's lures both national and local acts into its cramped stage area. The first floor fits the standard bar and pool table model, but the main attraction is the live music upstairs."

DuClaw Brewing Co. is a brewpub survivor, mainly because it takes as much pride in its food as it does in its specially crafted quaffables. At the same time, DuClaw doesn't forget that an interesting, changeable collection of beers is what sets brewpubs apart from ordinary bars and restaurants. Staple beers like robust Bad Moon Porter, Australian lager Kangaroo Love and pale ale Venom are always available, but you'll have to time your trip to catch seasonal selections like oatmeal stout Alchemy, Oktoberfest favorite Mad Bishop, Scotch ale Twisted Kilt and Belgian white ale Sawtooth.
Food at DuClaw isn't an afterthought. Nachos, pretzel sticks or beer-battered onion rings are perfect for noshing and hoisting. Black Angus burgers and jumbo sandwiches -- like pepperjack chicken, a Cuban, Buffalo chicken panini and Carolina pork barbecue -- accent what's in your mug. Heartier appetites can feast on sesame ginger salmon, pork chops glazed in margarita lime sauce, honey porter chicken and tangy jambalaya. Kids get fish sticks, spaghetti or chicken nuggets, but they'll have to settle for a soda.

"This tiny Mexican eatery is a shrine to things gone but not forgotten--the Colts, Baltimore-brewed National Bohemian beer, a winning Orioles team and, of course, Elvis. A nearly life-sized statue of the King greets customers at the door. The multi-colored bulbs that dangle over the tables add to the funky ambience but do little to illuminate the memorabilia-crammed walls. Expect to wait for a table, but with margaritas served in hubcaps, time passes quickly.
Nacho Mamas may never be confused with a genuine south-of-the-border cantina, but it serves huge portions of tasty Mexican-style comfort food, including over-sized burritos and sizzling fajitas. Creativity trumps authenticity here. The spinach salad's pungent bite of feta is tempered by smoky roasted red peppers and a smooth avocado vinaigrette. The creamy, jalapeno-spiked crab dip gives a nod to the homeland but packed with backfin crab, this treat's also got localization."

"Reeking of big-city panache, this nightspot may leave some wondering if they're still in Bawlmer, hon'. Hardwood floors and whitewashed brick walls establish pure minimalism, while cushioned benches, low tables and backless stools extend for the length of the central room. A second room, with low slung couches and oversized slate fire boxes gets rhythmic support from local DJs. Asian tapas (e.g., duck vindaloo and macadamia tuna) complement cutting-edge martinis and mojitos."

Figure what you're good at and stick with it -- that might as well be the mantra at the Greene Turtle. The Greene Turtle relies on old standards -- casual atmosphere, pleasing pub grub and plenty of sports talk -- to achieve its fan-friendly ambience. Dim light provides the perfect atmosphere for the glow of multiple TVs. Happy chatter overrides the din of video games and sports debates bar-side. Even something as simple as a potato chip isn't left to chance -- Greene Turtle's standard accompaniment is a wedge-cut chip, deep-fried and sprinkled with Old Bay, perhaps an ode to the O.C. roots. Onion straws, chicken tenders and personal pizzas are obligatory warm-ups, or opt for wings or steamed shrimp with a frosty pitcher of suds. Two-handers are hearty fare, and specialty sandwiches include the Turtle's turn on the Cuban, a turkey melt and a salmon BLT. Want to watch the whole game? Feast on crab imperial-stuffed twin filets, Creole pork roast, spicy fried shrimp or a 12-ounce slab of beef known as The Terrapin.
